2022 World Games announce all competition venues


BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WIAT) – The 2022 World Games have announced the 14 Birmingham community venues that will host competitions for the games next July.

The 2022 World Games will take place in Birmingham from July 7 to 17. Over 3,000 athletes will participate in 34 different sports throughout the event.

“All of these venues provide a unique experience for fans and competitors,” said Nick Sellers, CEO of the 2022 World Games. “These venues have been carefully selected as the best Birmingham has to offer, and we are delighted to host them. the best edition of the World Games ever. ”

Below is a full list of the venues and competitions they will host:

  • Avondale Park – Archery
  • Barber Motorsports Park – Drone racing, canopy piloting
  • Birmingham Crossplex – Inline Hockey, Figure Roller Skating, Speed ​​Skating, Wheelchair Rugby, Lifesaving, Fins Swimming, Canoe Polo
  • Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex – DanceSport, Gymnastics, Bowling, Korfball, Floorball, Powerlifting, Billiards
  • Birmingham Southern College – Fistball, orienteering (sprint), karate, Wushu, Ju-Jitsu Boutwell Auditorium – Sumo, Kickboxing, Muaythai
  • Hoover Metropolitan Complex – Softball
  • John Carrol Catholic High School – Flying Disc
  • Legion Ground – Flag Football
  • Oak Mountain State Park – Water ski / Wakeboard, canoe marathon, orienteering (middle distance)
  • Protection stadium – Opening and closing ceremonies
  • Railroad Park – Duathlon, Orienteering course (Sprint Relay)
