On June 18, 2022, the A-ROSA SENA left Cologne for its maiden voyage with its first guests on board. Previously, the ship was blessed in Düsseldorf by Deacon Michael Inden, as well as christened by Clara Eichler, daughter of A-ROSA CEO Jörg Eichler, in the presence of management, investors and crew. Due to supply issues, the first cruise started a little later than originally planned, meaning this ceremony was held in a small circle only. Thanks to the hybrid propulsion system, the first start was made using electrical energy from the storage battery.

Guests and crew were enthusiastic about the new sustainable vessel: “A-ROSA SENA’s design is truly unique on the river. Together with the spacious interior layout, it offers a whole new travel experience,” comments hotel manager Dennis Brenner. Captain Ulrich Schwalbe adds: “Thanks to the hybrid propulsion system and the exhaust gas purification filter, you do not notice any emissions on board and can simply enjoy the pure cruising experience.” The E-Motion vessel was recently awarded the “German Sustainability Project Award 2022” for its environmentally friendly technologies.

Throughout the summer, A-ROSA SENA offers 7-night trips from Cologne via Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Dordrecht and Antwerp. Passengers can disembark individually or discover the destinations through exclusive shore excursions organized by A-ROSA. Whether it’s a gracht tour in Amsterdam, a visit to the miniature world of Madurodam in Rotterdam, a canoe trip in the Biesbosch nature reserve or a culinary city tour through Antwerp, there There is something for every taste. The last day of the trip is a cruise day during which passengers can enjoy at their leisure all that the ship has to offer: The large SPA-ROSA with sauna, whirlpool and massage room, the fitness, two swimming pools on the sun deck, the Kids Club for the little guests and various restaurants and bars.

From June 4, 2022, A-ROSA cruises will again be possible without proof of vaccination, recovery or certified negative test result
