- NATIONAL EVENING: Halifax County law enforcement officers and other community leaders plan to kick off the 39th annual Halifax County National Night Out with a parade beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the County Fairgrounds in ‘Halifax to South Boston. In honor of this special day, both locations of the Halifax County and South Boston Public Library System will be offering free coloring books to children. Visit either branch of the library, in Halifax or South Boston, to pick up a free coloring book. The funds used to purchase the coloring books were provided by the Friends of the Library. National Coloring Book Day is a time to celebrate the creative act of coloring.
