GRODNO, July 6 (BelTA) — There is a chance to elevate the domestic competitions of Belarus and Russia to a new level, Match+ agency editor-in-chief Evgeny Slyusarenko said during the panel discussion “Interaction of a press service with sports media,” BelTA learned.
“The sports industry is adapting. It is now Eurocentric. But we have to focus on national competitions. There are 5 or 6 sports where we have very strong sports communities. Therefore, we have a chance to raise domestic competitions to a new level of interest,” said Evgeny Slyusarenko.
There is nothing good in discriminating against our athletes. But we want to make the most of it. This is a huge opportunity to reformat our competitions, not just to make them common within the framework of the Belarusian and Russian open championships but to raise them to a higher level. As we will see, for example, in biathlon at the next Commonwealth Cup, said Evgeny Slyusarenko.
He noted that it was an opportunity to bring sports stars from both countries to a new level of recognition. “There is an idea to organize spectacular duels, challenges. For example, in kayaks and canoes. Shows that will bring together star athletes from both countries will be a success,” said Evgeny Slyusarenko.
