TAFF will take place virtually November 25-28 and feature nine movies or 2.5 hours of on-demand action and adventure.

“This festival is a celebration of mountain culture, outdoor adventure, indigenous and environmental film. We believe in the power of cinema to connect people to the importance of protecting wild places and inspiring everyone to get out and have their own adventures in nature, ”festival curator Keegan McColl said in a statement. Press.

“We are really excited to present a number of films that explore the themes of mental health, Aboriginal ethics in the outdoors and the importance of protecting nature. TAFF was hosted here in Tofino and features local films such as Co-extinction, as well as local legends like master sculptor Joe Martin featured in the film Tla-o-qui-aht canoe,” he said.

In Canoe canoe Tla-o-qui-aht, a 10-minute documentary written and directed by Coast Salish filmmaker Steven Davies, viewers get a glimpse into the life of master carver and land advocate Joe Martin as he reconciles his past after working as a lumberjack revitalizing ancestral knowledge and the artistic practice of the traditional canoe.

TAFF also includes a open online auction festival-goers and all those who want to support the conservation of wild salmon. Ten percent of all proceeds will be donated to Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks.

“The auction features great West Coast adventure packages, artwork, equipment and more, all generously donated by local businesses and artists,” notes McColl.
