Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole today convened a meeting to review preparations for the organization of water sports activities and the National Rowing Championship which will start from June 22 at Dal Lake.
The national rowing championship is held for the first time in Kashmir and will see the participation of around 550 athletes.
The event will be inaugurated by J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on June 22, 2022.
The assembly was informed that the venue for the event has been fixed at the SKICC and that all necessary equipment for the event and the players has been provided by the tourism and sports council.
In addition, the assembly was informed that an infallible security of the players on the road and at the avenue will be ensured by the police.
He was also informed that all facilities regarding accommodation and boarding, refreshment have been made.
On occasion, Div Com ordered the relevant officers to repair the course of the race and clear it of weeds so that the participants did not face any obstacles during the competition.
He also instructed SMC and tourism officers to advertise widely through hoarding and electronic notice boards.
He also asked the organizing agency to forecast the fund requirements so that the application is available on time.
Meanwhile, Div Com led the staging of the Dal Cross event on June 16, for which it led the attendance of approximately five hundred young people.
He placed emphasis on training local youth in rafting, rowing and other sporting activities, as resources are available here in abundance.

Earlier, the Nodal Officer of Water Sports Kashmir gave a detailed presentation about the upcoming infrastructure, sports activities, players, events and programs.
He was informed that the 11th Canoe Marathon Race will be held in October 2022, the 10th National Canoe Slalom Championship in August 2022 at Sindh River Sonmarg J&K.
