Exploring new places often leads to unforgettable adventures, which you’re likely to find at this underrated Missouri state park. Nestled among the rolling hills of northern Missouri, the sprawling state park is an ideal destination whether you’re looking for a fun day trip or an overnight camping adventure. With its long list of things to do, the park is sure to have activities that will appeal to all members of the family.
A day at Crowder State Park in Trenton might not be enough time to satisfy your wanderlust, especially if you love the outdoors.
Sprawling over 1,912 acres, the crown jewel of the beautiful state park might just be the cozy 18-acre Crowder Lake.
Spend hours on the sparkling lake which is popular with boaters. You can even rent a kayak, a canoe or a stand up paddle directly in the park.
However, you will definitely want to bring your hiking boots too. After exploring the water, explore one of Missouri’s scenic trails on foot or on horseback.
Crowder State Park has four hiking trails – two easy and two moderate. To really get to know the park, follow the nine-mile Thompson River Trail.
It is rated easy and will take you through beautiful wooded areas.
For more of a challenge, head out on the 3.4-mile Tall Oaks Trail. If you’re into rock climbing and varied terrain, you’ll love this scenic trek.
Even if you’re not into hiking or horseback riding, you’ll find plenty of activities at the state park, which also includes volleyball nets and playgrounds for kids.
It’s also a little piece of heaven if you like to see the local wildlife – from snails and raccoons to deer and turkeys.
