Keeping the Bobcats Informed, September 14, 2022

Bobcat parents and families,

Starting a semester after a long summer break, or for the first time, comes with a lot of changes. Learning to manage your time, moving to a new place, and engaging with new friends can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming. It’s likely that your student, or one of their roommates or friends, will encounter a mental health issue in the midst of all these adjustments. Parents should talk about mental health with their students and let them know that if they are having difficulty, they are not alone.

Awareness, treatment, and open conversations are key to preventing outbursts that could lead to class failure, dropping out, or other emotional stress. Fortunately, OHIO is equipped with many crises Resources and programsas well as wider well-being aid to help Bobcats in need. Together, we can help your students find happiness, health, and success at OHIO.

On a lighter note, I want to remind you that Parents’ Weekend is coming up and is a great opportunity to have a point of contact with your student. We’ll have more information in next week’s newsletter, but for those of you who want to start planning, you can head over to our website for more information on special weekend programming.
