The final session of the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy Citizen Science Survey of Chautauqua Lake Invasive Aquatic Plants for 2022 will be Friday, September 9 at 1 p.m. Celoron.

This session is part of a series of public information sessions and water surveys hosted by the CWC (with funding from the Chautauqua Lake & Watershed Management Alliance) throughout the summer. Participants will learn how to differentiate beneficial native aquatic plant species from problematic invasive species (“weeds”) and also learn what they can do as individuals and as communities to prevent the arrival and spread of new aquatic invasive species. Interested individuals can also participate in a water survey to find and remove invasive plants.

Attendance is free, but pre-registration is required for on-water programs as attendance is limited to 10 participants per session. Registration can be made by calling 716-664-2166 or emailing [email protected] Anyone participating in the on-water training sessions will need to bring their own kayak or canoe and life jacket. More information can be at www.chautauquawatershed.org and the Conservancy’s Facebook page.
