Paddles ready for the provincial sprint race


The best Dabulamanzi Canoe Club racers have been selected to compete in the provincial sprint races at the Victoria Lake Canoe Club organized by Gauteng Canoe Union.

The event, which took place on February 5, was expected to give paddlers the opportunity to be selected to the Gauteng team to represent the province at the upcoming South African Sprint Championships in Cape Town from April 23-25 ​​at Lomond Dam.

According to Jennie Dallas, Union Public Relations Officer, the event has also doubled as the premier Gauteng Canoe Union 2022 Schools League event and now the juniors are looking forward to competing in the South African Schools League Championships at the end of April.

“A Gauteng team reflecting all ages from U8s to Great Grandmasters has been identified and paddlers are training hard to challenge other racers in the inter-provincial event,” Dallas concluded.
