Baseball federation president Chito Loyzaga has been named the country’s chef de mission at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia next year.
The President of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), Bambol Tolentino, announced this Monday, September 19, adding that he had also appointed the head of the sambo association Paolo Tancontian and the international technical manager of canoeing Len Escalante as deputies. of Loyzaga.
“Their management of their respective NSAs [national sports associations] and their management skills make them worthy of the positions,” Tolentino said.
Loyzaga and his deputies will officially take office after the POC General Assembly on September 28.
Cambodia is hosting 608 events for the May 5-16, 2023 meet where Filipino athletes are expected to compete in all 49 sports.
“I want to express my gratitude to POC Chairman Bambol for his confidence in me leading the Philippine delegation to the SEA Games in Cambodia,” said Loyzaga, who was also a former commissioner of the Philippine Sports Commission ( PSC) and Deputy Chef de Mission at the 2010 Asian Beach Games in Muscat, Oman.
