This nighttime tour near Ottawa will have you paddling through a maze under a meteor shower

Summer stargazing is about to get even more magical, as you can watch a meteor shower from a shimmering water maze near Ottawa.

The annual Perseid meteor shower will light up the skies next week, and you can pay a nighttime visit to Eco-Odyssey for a better look at nature’s light show. From August 10 to 13, you can paddle through a maze of water for a breathtaking view of the stars.

You will embark on the watercraft of your choice (canoe, kayak, pedal boat or paddle board) and use an adventure map to follow wooden figures through the labyrinth of the swamp. You will float in the dark and can admire a clear night sky full of shooting stars.

There are four time slots each evening that you can reserve to enjoy the starry spectacle, every half hour starting at 9 p.m. The price varies depending on the craft you choose to take out into the maze. The cost starts at $50 for two hours if you choose a paddle board or single kayak.

The nature park recommends booking early as they expect meteor shower nights to sell out quickly. Some types of boats are already full on certain time slots.

If you can’t do the night tour during the Perseid dates, you can still explore the water maze under moonlight during summer or at sunset. Bringing a flashlight is mandatory for nighttime adventures and insect repellent is recommended.
