First Lorenzo Insigne and now Carlos Salcedo.

TFC are reportedly close to agreeing a deal that would see winger Yeferson Soteldo move to Liga MX Tigres UANL in exchange for Mexico international centre-back Carlos Salcedo.

The Reds signed Italian star winger Insigne to a four-year contract (a deal worth over $45m) last week and are reportedly close to landing 28-year-old Salcedo, who has started his professional career with Real Salt Lake. in 2013.

Toronto still have the maximum allowed three named players under contract and must move at least one in order for Napoli captain Insigne to join the squad when he joins the squad on July 1 following the end of the season from the Serie A league. The Reds are trying to move current DPs Jozy Altidore and Soteldo.

As for Salcedo, the Reds need some extra help from the baseline. Veteran centre-backs Omar Gonzalez and Eriq Zavaleta left and Justin Morrow retired at the end of the 2021 campaign.
